Can I attend a meeting even if I’m not a member?

Absolutely! We always welcome guests and would love for you to join us.
We meet twice each month on the first and second Tuesdays from noon to 1:00 p.m. at the Lubbock Women’s Club (2020 Broadway).

  • First Tuesday – Business Meeting: A time for members and guests to connect, hear chapter updates, and discuss upcoming initiatives and events.
  • Second Tuesday – Program Meeting: Part of our program series featuring engaging guest speakers and professional insights related to communications and leadership.

During the summer months (June through August), we combine these into one monthly meeting. You are welcome to attend either or both meetings whenever your schedule allows.

Lunch is optional, with a plated meal available for $26. First-time guests are our treat and receive a complimentary meal during their first visit.

If you plan to attend, please RSVP to Danette Baker by 11:00 a.m. on the Monday before the meeting to ensure seating and meal counts are accurate.

How much does it cost to join?

Annual membership dues are $100 for professionals and entrepreneurs, providing access to AWC Lubbock’s network, professional programs, and opportunities to connect with women in communications across the community.

How often does the local chapter meet?

Our chapter typically meets twice each month. The first Tuesday is our business meeting, where we connect and discuss chapter updates and initiatives, and the second Tuesday features a program meeting with a guest speaker.

During the summer months, we combine these into one monthly meeting. Throughout the year, we also host membership mixers and special events that provide additional opportunities to connect and network.

Are there any group activities outside of the monthly meeting?

Yes. In addition to our monthly meetings, we host a membership mixer twice a year, typically during the work week after 5:00 p.m. These gatherings offer a relaxed setting to connect, catch up with fellow AWC members, and invite friends or colleagues who may be interested in learning more about our organization.

Each year, we also host our Celebrity Luncheon, a signature event that celebrates individuals who have made a meaningful impact in the Lubbock community while raising funds to support our scholarship programs.

Members who want to be more involved can also serve on committees, many of which meet outside of regular meetings to help plan programs, events, and chapter initiatives.

What is the time commitment involved with being a member of AWC?

AWC is designed to fit a variety of schedules. There is no requirement to attend a certain number of meetings or serve on a specific number of committees.

Members are encouraged to participate in ways that work best for them, whether that means attending meetings, volunteering at events, serving on a committee, or simply staying connected with the chapter. Many members find that their level of involvement naturally grows as they build relationships within the organization.

How do I RSVP for the meetings?

Members will receive an email invitation about one week before each meeting with details and an RSVP link. Please respond by Friday of the week prior to the meeting so we can confirm our meal count with the venue.

If you are not yet a member but would like to attend, we would love to have you join us. Please email Danette Baker by the RSVP deadline or send us a direct message on social media, and we will be happy to reserve a spot for you.

If you RSVP “yes” but are unable to attend, you may still be responsible for the meal cost, so we encourage you to RSVP only if you are confident you can attend.

I am interested in joining, but I still have a few questions. Who can I talk to?

We would love to connect with you. If you have additional questions or would like to learn more about becoming a member, please reach out to Julie Wells, Vice President for External Membership, at [email protected]. She would be happy to visit with you and help you explore how AWC could be a great fit for you.
